8 (or more) states (Posted on 2015-07-07) Difficulty: 2 of 5
The set of 6 U.S. States was divided into three subsets according to parameter, left to the solver to discover:

a. Vermont and New York possess feature A
b. Kentucky and Tennessee possess feature B
c. Connecticut and Minnesota - both features

Out of remaining 44 states find at least two
fit to be placed into corresponding subset.

Question Grasping at straws Comment 1 of 1
Anyone having any luck with this puzzle?

The only thing I've been able to come up with thus far is that states with feature B can be abbreviated using their first four letters (Kent., Tenn., Conn., Minn.), in which case other states fitting the category would include Arizona, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, and Washington. But this seems a very unsatisfying answer, not least because Kent. is not at all common (Kentucky is more commonly abbreviated Ky.).

States with feature A are all north of the Mason-Dixon line, but this seems too broad.

Ady, perhaps a hint is in order. :)
