Given the number of asterisks to represent the number of letters that are to complete the words, left and right, the following are  answers:

(i  ) ANT  : SLANT, ANTHER

(ii ) SINE : CUISINE, SINEWY

(iii) AMP  : SCAMP, AMPLE
      ODY  : SCODY, ODYLE
      RAY  : SCRAY, RAYLE
      RUB  : SCRUB, RUBLE

SCODY is an informal New Zealand English word for unkempt, dirty.
ODYLE is a hypothetical force that was formerly believed to pervade nature and was used to explain such forces as magnetism, et al.
SCRAY is a Zoological term for the tern or sea swallow. It is also a term used to define a simple container that collects piece goods through a machine process.
RAYLE is an archaic spelling of rail (valid as a SOWPODS Scrabble word).
