A whittled down set, selecting generally familiar words and, IMO, common two letter words:
AMBER BE EM MA AR
EMBER BE EM ME ER
HOUSE US SO OH HE
IMAMS AM MM MI IS
IMBED BE EM MI ID
LEMMA MM ME EL LA
MAMMA MM MA AM MA
MAMMY MM MA AM MY
MESHY SH HE EM MY
MUMMY MM MU UM MY
ROUSE US SO OR RE
UNHIP HI IN NU UP
I consider the spellings of the English letters and Greek letters as common. Which interjections to allow is highly subjective, but I chose those I see outside of the crossword game. There are other two letter words than the ones included here that I consider common, but the five letter word formed is not that familiar.
If the Hindu/Buddhist mantra syllable OM were to be considered a common word, two more familiar words can be added to the list:
MOUSE US SO OM ME
MOUSY US SO OM MY
Personally, I find OS can be considered common. It is a plural of the letter O (which is why it should be considered common), as well as having other meanings in anatomy [bone and opening to a passage]. If added to the list, along with OM:
MOOSE OS SO OM ME
