Although your comment is very interesting it should be considered as unsolicited expansion of the subject, which is always welcome but cannot claim the status of a valid solution.
It does not comply with two words of puzzle's text (.... tiles from a standard Srabble game, .... are English words ..) and the English language is not "implied" as you say , but explicitly imposed.
Still, your interest in the problem, your creativity and the volume of effort invested in broadening its scope are highly appreciated.
There is still a possibility to find a solution adhering to the specified rules, scoring higher than the current one.
