When I bought the house the safe in the wall was locked. In a drawer there was a piece of paper. It was written:
3740619285
7532084619
9746085321
3; Crypt key = 2018
What could be the four-digit key?
This puzzle will disappear in a couple of days. I've posted the solution but I can't publish it by myself. So I give it here.
The three big numbers in the proposed puzzle are 10-digits all-digits numbers
Under the three numbers there is a 3. If we divide each number by three, we get other three numbers
1246873095
2510694873
3248695107
These are also ten-digit numbers with all ten digits. This is not a common thing, so we can be confident that we are on the right track.
As each pair of numbers are all-10-digits (the initial number and its quotient) it is possible to match both numbers digit by digit and establish then a very simple "code" between the digits that are in the same place. E.g.:
3 7 4 0 6 1 9 2 8 5
1 2 4 6 8 7 3 0 9 5
The problem with this is that apparently, because we have three pairs of numbers, we should get three different codes, so what?
But here intervenes the magic of the numbers, because the three pairs of numbers contain the same code.
3 7 4 0 6 1 9 2 8 5 7 5 3 2 0 8 4 6 1 9 9 7 4 6 0 8 5 3 2 1
1 2 4 6 8 7 3 0 9 5 2 5 1 0 6 9 4 8 7 3 3 2 4 8 6 9 5 1 0 7
See that the digits of the superior row always couples with the same digits in the inferior row.
So for the crypt key = 2018, the four decrypted digits are 0679
