Where The Smoke Blows (Posted on 2003-06-20) Difficulty: 2 of 5
An electric passenger train goes at 73 km/h in the direction of south east. A wind is blowing from the south at 31 km/h.

What is the direction that the smoke from the train is blowing and at what speed?

It is possible to add vectors together to find the angle of degree, but do you suppose the smoke would have sufficent mass to create a vector of it's own? If this electric train was smoking and since, generally, smoke is lighter than air and rises, would not the smoke be ascending with the wind?
