Least is an adjective when applied to numerical values in the set of integers is the numerical value is the negative number where its absolute value is of the greatest magnitude in the negative range.
Smallest is the adjective where the magnitude is zero, or if zero is excluded, closest to zero which would is shared by its negative twin.
The following results are based upon the English names for numbers, to include recognized synonyms.
The smallest number is zero (0). The least number, allowing for the synonym "minus" for "negative", is minus forty (-40). The number of largest magnitude using the standard names is five thousand (5,000). Allowing for recognized synonyms, the largest may be ten myriads (100,000).
