Who's the odd one out? (Posted on 2004-04-10) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Of the words listed below, one is "odd man out." This has nothing to do with the number of vowels, consonants or syllables. Can you find the misfit?

LUMP REAM SAGA PALM

At the outset, we observe that:

LUMP anagrams as PLUM
REAM anagrams as MARE
PALM anagrams as LAMP
However, SAGA cannot be anagrammed into a valid common English word.
  We also see that each of LUMP, REAM and PALM can be used both as a noun and as a verb. But, SAGA can only be used as a noun.
Consequently, we have:
(I) SAGA is the only word amongst the four that does not anagram into another word.
(II) SAGA is the only word amongst the four available words that cannot be used both as a noun and a verb.

The word "REAM" has no decenders when written in lowe-case
