Alternate Riddle Resolution: Unintended

We know that offspring of a buffalo is called "calf"

We also observe that "cuff" is a homophone of "calf"

Having regard to the foregoing:

The buffalo said, to his offspring, "Son, you forgot to put on the cuff(s)"

*** This does not conform to the riddle title, and therefore CANNOT be the INTENDED answer.
