A new word is constituted by considering the alternate letters of any of the words beginning with the first.

Accordingly:

• BOOKLET --> BOLT • PREVAIL --> PEAL

• CHARRED --> CARD • SHALLOT --> SALT

• GONIUMS --> GNUS • SOPHIST --> SPIT

• INDULGE --> IDLE
