    Strike out precisely one letter and we will have an anagram of an organic compound with the chemical formula C2H6O.
    Determine the respective names of the 8-letter Homeric character and the 7-letter organic compound.

Adam and Eve's first-born was CAIN, so the Homeric character can be either Nausicaa or Alcinous

C2H6 is ETHANOL, so the character from the Odyssey is Melantho
