We don't even need to worry about wavelengths here, since the type of note only indicates a relative duration, not an absolute one. By slowing down the tempo of the piece in which a note is played, we can continue dividing it further and further.
To put it another way, while a half note will always be twice as long (in both an absolute and relative sense) than a quarter note, that half note could sound for any arbitrary length of time.
