Puzzle Solution

x^(x^4)=4

=> (x^4)^(x^4) = 4^4

=> x^4 =4

=> x = +/- v2

Therefore:

x^(x^2) = (v2)^2 = 2

x^(x^8) =( v2)^(16)= 2^8 = 256

Consequently, x^(x^2)+x^(x^8)= 2 + 256 = 258
