Determine a quadratic function f(x) that satisfies this equation:
f(x)*f(x-1)= f(x^2)

"From this the second root of f(x) is -r-1 and the second root of f(x-1) is -r."
How did you know which root goes with f(x) and which with f(x-1)?
Was it simply to avoid the unlikely coincidence that the roots of f(x) would be +r and -r ?
