Altering Pickup Routine (Posted on 2024-03-05) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Every day, I drive from my house to the middle school. I get there at exactly 4:00, pick up my waiting daughter, and drive back home.

One day, my daughter got out of school unexpectedly at 3:30 and started to walk home. I left at the usual time and met her along the way. We drove straight back home, and got there 10 minutes earlier than usual.

How long did my daughter spend walking?

Ten minutes of driving was saved. That would be the last 5 minutes of the drive to the school and the first 5 minutes of the drive home.

So instead of picking her up at 4, you picked her up at 3:55. She was walking for the 25 minutes from 3:30 to 3:55.
