Two Word - Backwards (Posted on 2024-06-23) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Name something you might wear in the summer. The answer will have two words, with the first word containing five letters and the second word containing three letters.

Remove the next-to-last (penultimate) letter and read the result backwards and you'll get a word that means 'blocks'.

What words are these?

Straw hat.

Remove the "a" and read backwards and you get "thwarts".  What threw me at first was "blocks" implies a noun, plural of "block", but "thwart" is a verb that can mean "to block".  However "blocks" is indeed a form of "to block".  Tricky!
