16x4 - ax3 + (2a + 17)x2 - ax + 16 = 0

has exactly four distinct real roots that form a geometric progression.

What a dumb mistake.  Even the title says Geometric yet I looked for an Arithmetic sequence of roots.


You can safely ignore my post.  

Had I tried to correctly solve this problem, I would like to think my solution would be as good as Brian Smith's.
