What do the following words have in common?

spy, babe, tree, wavy, skate, loyal, steep, ponder

grr.. if tree and loyal weren't the there, the connection could have been that if you change the 2nd consonant in every word with the letter "l" would make a another sensible word. unless of course u can count tlee and lolal as words :P
