Wow! Gamer I'm surprised to see you write this. I also don't like Tristan's "proof". I don't think it's at all rigorous.... (just because I can't come up with a number between the two doesn't mean there isn't one). To continue with that proof, Tristan must PROVE that there is no number between the two.

However, .3999... (repeating) *IS* equal to 4.

In fact, it is just another way of describing the same number in our chosen notation. And the proof of this has already been posted.
