You are relying on his work to complete your proof, but failed to mention it.
*I* don't think your proof is at all valid (although I do agree with the conclusion, that .39999... = 4), and we both agree that it isn't rigorous.
Therefore, and since I am quite comfortable with the accepted proof, I will not attempt to improve upon yours.... Perhaps someone else will.
