Seven given - the eighth TBD (Posted on 2018-03-14) |
|
3, 23, 17, 5, 7, 67, 39, X. The above line represents a finite sequence of 8 integers. 7 are spelled out, the last one is left to be added by you.
If asked to continue the sequence, what options do you suggest for the next 3 members?
There are several valid solutions.

3, 23, 17, 5, 7, 67, 13, X The above line represents the corrected text (an erroneous 39 replaced by 13.) Last one should be 89. The generating formula for 8t terms is a(n)=11*n+1; n= 1 to 8. 12, 23, 34, 45,56, 78, 89. a sequence based on those 8 numbers, - listing for each member a(n) the largest prime factor of a(n) we get: 3,23,17,5,7,67,13, 89 If asked to continue the sequence, I suggest either to coninue by the same formula thus getting as the basic sequence 100,111, and 122 resulting in answer:2,37,2 or
take as a basic sequence 910, 911, 922 (i.e. a string concatenating n &
n+1), resulting in answer:2, 911, 2
There might be other interpretations of the sequel as well... |
