Multiplying three consecutive even numbers gives 87*****8, where each "*" stands for a digit. What are the missing numbers?

If P is the middle even number, the product is (P-2)P(P+2)= P^3-4P. This result must be between 87000008 and 87999998; we can approximate P by taking cube roots, and we find P should be 444, which does work out: 442*444*446= 87526608 |
