Construct two parallel lines intersecting the ellipse in four points. These points define a line segment on each line. Construct a line determined by the midpoints of these two segments. This line intersects the ellipse in two points and defines a line segment. The midpoint of this segment is the center of the ellipse. Construct a circle with this center and intersecting the ellipse at four points. These points are the vertices of a rectangle whose sides are parallel to the axes of the ellipse. It is then a simple procedure to construct the axes of the ellipse. |
