What's the explanation for these mathematical equations?:

The title is the atbash of the word "ATBASH". If you take the atbash of each number, multiply them, then take the atbash of the product, you get the "incorrect" product as shown.
The atbash substitution (which is based on an ancient Hebrew cipher) is to replace A by Z and vice versa, replace B by Y and vice versa, etc.
For this numerical atbash problem, 0 is replaced by 9 (and vice versa), 1 is replaced by 8, etc.
For each digit "n", the atbash is just 9-n
And for 2 three-digit numbers A and B, the atbash of the product as defined above is:
999999-[(999-A)*(999-B)] assuming the product has 6 digits |
