As with my previous puzzle,
Discover Us,
the first step is to discover the cryptic phrase hidden among a long string of letters. In this case, the string of letters is a "reflection" of the message:
"The solution to this puzzle is a single word described by a cryptic phrase found by ignoring this message (after some reflection):"
In other words, the entire message is turned around and the cryptic phrase is buried within it. Next, "ignore" the letters in the message to find the following phrase hidden within it (letters in bold):
nofit celof rerem mosre tfaae galss lemys ichtg onnir ongif ybedn ruofe asarh fipcf ittpy yrcay bddeb oircs elddl arrow felga nicse asiin elzaz merup sihto tinoi tulos ehcat.
So, the cryptic phrase is:
Formally confer a fifty dollar face in America
As with any cryptic phrase, the solution is given twice. The trick is to find out where to divide the phrase to determine the solution. In this case we can divide it at Formally confer which is a synonym for "grant"; and, a fifty dollar face in America which brings to mind "Grant", the U.S. president whose face appears on the U.S. fifty dollar bill. Thus, we discover Grant (U.S. Grant) is the solution to this puzzle. |
