The object of halves (Posted on 2006-05-03) |
|
This is the hardest riddle I've ever created so far. If you can solve it I'd say you're really good. Here goes...
Half of a common germ,
Half of a yellow food.
Half of a longer month,
Half of a plane of wood.
This thing has two halves too,
One half as heavy as the other.
Tis' an object used to
Part one's life asunder.
What on earth am I talking about?

COLICHEMARDE
Half of a common germ, Escherichia Coli. In this case the half is the second word "coli".
Half of a yellow food, cheese. The first half of the word is used "che"
Half of a longer month, march, which has 31 days. The first half will be "mar" as the letter r split in two produces r and -.
Half of a plane of wood, a deck; the first two letters.
A colichemarde can be said to be composed of two halves, which are the hilt and the blade (duh). They are both equally heavy, which is why the blade is balanced, and can be used for fencing, or rather war, since it's the foils and epees that are used for somewhat more peaceful purposes. Lastly, it can kill someone, hence the last line...
E. Coli, cheese, march and deck were all mentioned in the attempts, so it should not have been technically impossible, simply extremely hard. |
