solves as:

183*47 = 8601

Accordingly, 48671 corresponds to MONEY

(ii) YOU*ME = ENDED

solves as:

694*75 = 52050

Accordingly, 79256 corresponds to MONEY

Consequently, in terms of both (i) and (ii), the cause of the unhappy end is MONEY.
