The puzzle author has since rectified the first line, and the ciphertext now reads as:
"m*4*8**41*1*n in a noisy c**848*1a"

The given alphametic solves as:
d o i s t e
3 5 1 7 4 8
so that:
3*3517 + 5145 = 7848

The ciphertext in terms of the 1st line thus becomes:
"m*t*e**ti*i*n" and "c**eta*ia"
which easily solves as "mathematician" and, "cafetaria"
