For what value K is the following system consistent?
(i) p+q=6
(ii) kp+q=18
(iii) p+kq=30

This is really just a system of 3 equations and 3 unknowns, presented as if there were two variables (p,q) and k is some extra parameter.

Charlie already gave a nice solution, but here's a nice graph where you can alter k to make the three lines cross at a single point.
