x=-1 is the only possible solution to the given equation.

EXPLANATION

Let x=-y Then, we must have:
4^((1/2)^y) = 2^y
Then, substituting y=1, we have:
Lhs = 4^(1/2) = 2
Rhs = 2^1 = 2
For k > 1, we have:
Lhs = 4^((1/2)^y) < 2= Rhs
Hence, y=1 is the only possible solution to the given equation.
Consequently, x= -1 is the only possible solution to the given equation.
