Closest to two dozens (Posted on 2024-04-24) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Remember “Unique and restricted” ? ,b (pid=13696)
There I have asked for a restricted answer to an alphametic puzzle and got a set of many words.

Now I have fiddled with a similar equation and again will allow only answers not using any of the letters appearing in “TWELVE”.

TWELVE + TWELVE = (Oompha, grubby, payoff, droppy ….et al)

Your task is to find an answer to my puzzle such that adding the numerical values of all 6 letters in the word chosen by you (a long list of candidate solutions) will be closest to 24.

Start your chase.
Good luck!

Some Thoughts @ Charlie & Larry | Comment 8 of 20 |
Re your just remarks:
In my drafts. there is no mention of  25  and a multitude of 23.
23 appears in many mundane words  such as  AFFAIR, ACROSS , RUNOFF as a single solution.
24  so far is present only if the uniqueness is not a must.
I was under impression that it is,  nut Larry pointed out that this demand existed only in “eleven+eleven” version. Checking the current text of “twelve+twelve”  I found no mention that the RHS we look for must be unique. So actually any of the words listed by him qualify as a correct solution and might be posted as an official solution.
However  I would like either to find a 24 with unique combination of letters  or to prove that it does not exist.
I have a very long list of unique answers,  but I so far eliminated the TWLVE letters manually and then checked the filtered list (double check) to verify uniqueness
So let us wait for a while, maybe the “24 unique” will be discovered!
Anyhow by May 10 or sooner the official solution will be  published.
