All the members of the sequence correspond to every single-letter symbols denoting the elements inclusive of the periodic table. 

Thus:
B => Boron
C => Carbon
F => Fluorine
H => Hydrogen
I  =>  Iodine
K => Potassium
N => Nitrogen
O => Oxygen
P => Phosphorus 
S => Sodium
U => Uranium
V =>  Vanadium
W => Tungsten
Y =>  Yttrium
