Many us us have seen the problems which start you out with a number and a sentence with a few words missing, and you have to figure out how the number fits into the sentence. For example, 8 = S on a S S could be answered 8 sides on a stop sign.

Can you figure out all these sports related starter problems? (One disclaimer, anything I've seen on TSN or ESPN counts as a "sport")

5 = S on a H T
5 = P in a F of F P B
5 = C in a P H
5 = S in a M's T M
5 = C R on the O L
5 = P N of the T B
5 = M for a M P in H
5 = L C S of W S C (Y, 1950-)
5 = C of the O S on a P T

Meh, don't worry about the dates Cory. I'm just glad that was right, otherwise I think I might have lost my mind trying to figure it out. And thanks for the hints...

Now, onto the thoughts:

For "P N of the T B", the only major North American sport I can think of where people keep score is baseball. So that's where my thinking is right now with that one. Although, that'd be a little crazy if you've got all those sports on there and no football (American), so maybe it's that...

And as for "N of the O S on a P T", I figure it's pretty much gotta be either pool or darts, and Pool Table seems to fit pretty nicely on the end there. (Sidenote: is it supposed to be "N on the..." or "N of the..."?) Still can't figure out what the rest is, but yeah give me and Bruce and whoever else is still out there some time, and I'm sure we'll get something. I know when you rack the balls for eight-ball pool, there's 5 balls on each side of the triangle...that's about all I can come up with so far...
