Book Worms (Posted on 2003-02-01) Difficulty: 3 of 5
There were three brothers Albert, Bertrand and Charles.

Albert lent to Bertrand and Charles as many books as they had initially.

After some time Bertrand gave as many books to Albert and Charles as many as they now have.

After sometime Charles did the same thing.

At the end each one of them had 24 books.

Find the books each orginally had.

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but according to your method, Albert would have negative books at one point.

At one point during the early stages of solving it, I did come up with numbers that resulted in negative books for Albert. When you posted this, I feared I'd left in the erroneous version of one or more
equations.
