Subwords (Posted on 2005-11-23) Difficulty: 2 of 5
A good friend of mine introduced me to a way to make boring business meetings go a little faster.

Pick any word from the briefing, newspaper, imagination, etc. Then see how many other words you can make using some or all of the letters in that word.

For example: "network" can be used to form "tenor", "token", etc.

Try your intelligence on "intelligence". How many words of length 4-12 letters can you find? As a goal, I've found 21(4), 13(5), 12(6), 9(7), 1 (8) and 1 (9) letter words. Only a few are real "scrabble" words.

This is a real fun game when worked with pen and paper.
