The product of three consecutive numbers when divided by each of them in turn gives three quotients. The sum of these three quotients is equal to 74.

Let the 3 numbers be x-1 , x & x+1

So we have:

(x-1) (x) (x+1) / (x-1) = (x) (x+1) = x^2 + x
(x-1) (x) (x+1) / (x) = (x-1) (x+1) = x^2 - 1
(x-1) (x) (x+1) / (x+1) = (x-1) (x) = x^2 - x

Adding all the quotients we get:

x^2 + x + x^2 - 1 + x^2 - x = 74
3x^2 - 1 = 74
x^2 = 25
x = 5 or -5

So the numbers are 4,5,6 or -4,-5,-6.
