What four letters can be rearranged to form six different English words? (There are two solutions of which I am aware.) For example, the letters 'E T M I' can be rearranged to form only four different words ITEM, TIME, EMIT, MITE.

You can add to the list:

ALES, ELAS, LASE, LEAS, SALE, SEAL

ales - plural of ale, a beer
elas - plural of ela, original form of 'la' of the musical scale 
lase - to use a laser
leas - plural of lea, a meadow
sale - the activity of selling
seal - a marine mammal; to close

NEST, NETS, TENS, SENT, SNET, STEN

nest - a cosy or secluded retreat
nets - plural of net, to trap in a web-like structure; profits
tens - plural of ten
sent - transmitted
snet - (obsolete) fat of a deer; to blow, clear mucus
Sten - a British machine gun

AVEL, LAVE, LEVA, VALE, VEAL, VELA

avel - (obsolete) to pull away
lave - to wash or flow against
leva - plural of lev, the basic unit of currency of Bulgaria
vale - a valley or dale
veal - meat from a calf
vela - plural of velum, muscular flap that closes off the nasopharynx during swallowing or speaking
