A Solution Maybe

When you have two halves of a circle they each have two sides (arc and diameter) but when added together they have only one side (circumference)<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>

So 2 (sides) + 2 (sides) = 1 (side)<o:p></o:p>
