Fast clock, slow clock (Posted on 2007-04-11) Difficulty: 2 of 5
At a certain time of day, every day, my clock appears to be an hour fast. At another time of day, it appears to be an hour slow. It is neither fast nor slow. What's wrong with it?

You have a talking clock.  At a certain time of day, the clock incorrectly speaks the time.  It appears (to your ear) to be an hour fast.  At another time of day, the clock incorrectly speaks the time and it appears (to your ear) to be an hour slow.  However, your clock is neither fast nor slow when viewed in the traditional sense: with your eyes.

So what's wrong with it?  Let's say your clock got some water in it and the speech is now garbled (or gargled) twice a day.
