Numbered Letters III (Posted on 2012-07-20) Difficulty: 3 of 5
If each letter has a value (a=1, b=2, c=3, d=4 etc.) what words containing at least four letters have the same total letter value as their antonyms (also containing at least four letters)? What is the longest such word with this property?

*** Plurals, proper nouns, hyphens, spaces, acronyms and abbreviations are not allowed.

Solution a few Comment 9 of 9 |

careful / rush = 66
thick / thin = 51
guilty / innocent = 94  (<= Math Man had also posted this one)
heat / cold = 34 (<= Charlie had also posted this one)
summer / winter = 89
anomaly / standard = 81

Longest I discovered, as yet, (besides the 14-letter word revealed by Charlie: Brobdingnagian - with minuscule = 117):
11-letters: abnormality with its antonym: normalness = 130
