Quite a Handful (Posted on 2012-03-22) Difficulty: 3 of 5

What do HA, INGA, LIMA, PET, and PUMP have in common?

Feel free to add the kitchen SINK, if that helps!

One of the things in common | Comment 1 of 6

Probably not the sought after answer, but each "word" can have a word appended to create a new word:

HA+BIT (the cutting edge or part of a tool) =
HABIT (manner of conducting oneself)

INGA+TE (variant of ti, sol-fa syllable) =
INGATE (waste metal left in a mold's channel)

LIMA+CINE (motion picture) =
LIMACINE (of or resembling a slug)

PET+TED (to loosen or spread so as to dry) =
PETTED (stroked or gently caressed)

PUMP+KIN (a person's relatives) =
PUMPKIN (a large round fruit with thick orange pulpy flesh)

SINK+AGE (to grow old) =
SINKAGE (a depression; a sunken area)
