Four people are sitting around a campfire after a long day of recreation, when one man comments: "Do you realize that around this campfire, the four of us include a mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, niece, nephew, aunt, uncle and a couple of cousins"?.
If everyone is related by blood (with no unusual marriages) how is this possible?
...is that this problem was posed in the deep south where (as we all know) incest occurs at an alarmingly higher rate than other, more prudent areas of our country.
So Jed was married to Nelly (who was in fact his sister) who gave birth to Billy Bob, and Betty Sue who both were not present at the gathering. So much for the mother, father, brother, and sister.
Betty Sue and Jed gave birth to a son whose name was Bubba, and Billy Bob and Nelly gave birth to a daughter whose name was Milly May. Both of these children were present. This takes care of the niece, nephew, aunt, uncle and a couple of cousins.
I hope no one takes too much offense at this post.
(NOTE: I reread the question forbidding unusual marriages after this post. I'll let it stand, but it solves nothing.)
