One Word, Seven Times (Posted on 2005-01-27) Difficulty: 5 of 5
"Dog dog dog dog dog dog dog."

While dog-lovers rejoice at the above statement, grammarians hang their heads in shame, as the statement is not a grammatically correct sentence.

Replace "dog" with a word that will satisfy the grammarians. You may not add any additional words or punctuation.

"Satify the grammarians" means "satisfy the grammarians" | Comment 5 of 14 |
(In reply to Notwithstanding that no one ever satisfies grammarians... :) by John)

Grammarians aren't simply satisfied by the fact that another human may understand the meaning the speaker wishes to convey; they demand strict adherence to the rules of English grammar.  In other words, they demand,

"His phone number is five five five five five five five."

Or,

"The colors are green, green, green, green, green, green, and green."
