The numbers that represent each letter are the reversed digits of the sequential number of that letter in the alphabet, with a leading zero applied to that number before the reversal.
As such, if Sean's identification of the third figure were correct, the specific codes given should have been:

20 10 20 50 81 12 02 80
20 10 81 81 52 20 51 41 40 91
60 81 10 41 11 81 51 20 90 41 91 51 41

However, the codes that were actually given yield, by the code given, Willie Mays, not Barry Bonds.
