If you want to submit it as a problem, do not ruin it by posting your ideas here.  But if not, I would be interested to see the modifications you would propose. 

It was fun to even figure out the code string, and then to test it to see if it was correct and if I could come up with another solution than what I proposed.

Congratulations.  I too was impressed by Leming.  I do not do well on these cyphers at all.
