A good friend of mine introduced me to a way to make boring business meetings go a little faster.
Pick any word from the briefing, newspaper, imagination, etc. Then see how many other words you can make using some or all of the letters in that word.
For example: "network" can be used to form "tenor", "token", etc.
Try your intelligence on "intelligence". How many words of length 4-12 letters can you find? As a goal, I've found 21(4), 13(5), 12(6), 9(7), 1 (8) and 1 (9) letter words. Only a few are real "scrabble" words.
This is a real fun game when worked with pen and paper.
Using only very common words, in order of increasing word length:
----------------------
cell celt cent cete ceti cite gene gent gill gilt glee glen
lege lent lice lien lilt line lint nice nile nine nite teen teli
tell tile till tine
----------------------
citee cling elect elite genie genii glint icing inlet intel legit
licit liege linen niece tinge
----------------------
citing client elicit engine entice gentle ignite incite inline
lenten lentil lienee lining Nicene teeing tieing tiling tingle
tining
----------------------
ceiling centile genetic genteel incline lenient lignite
lilting neglect telling tilling
----------------------
electing enticing lenience
----------------------
clientele linteling telegenic
----------------------
(Gin clientele ? It's a strange anagrammatic phrase for "intelligence", but also for "lie in neglect". I just thought I'd add that as a footnote.)
