Countries of the World (Posted on 2006-06-09) Difficulty: 3 of 5
In the nine country names below (spelled out in lower case), a c has been used to represent any consonant that does not have an ascender or descender (cmnrsvwxz). A b has been used to represent any consonant that has an ascender (bdfhklt). A g has been used to represent any consonant that has a descender (gjpq). An a represents any vowel other than y (aeiou) and y represents only itself. What are the nine countries?

yacac
gacaaca
acagaay
caaba acabaa
aacbcaa
ab cabcabac
accaab
abgbacacbac
abbaagaa

My views are in conformity with the solution posted by WN in its entirety except for the fact that the country corresponding to item number 7 should be "Israel' instead of "isreal".
