What four letters can be rearranged to form six different English words? (There are two solutions of which I am aware.) For example, the letters 'E T M I' can be rearranged to form only four different words ITEM, TIME, EMIT, MITE.
I use the O P S T solution in my statistics class. The reason is the words formed are not obscure. I usually get asked whether 'OPTS' is a word but I don't have to explain it like I would 'SETA' etc.
The question I ask is "If you put these 4 letters in a hat and pull them out one by one and place them in order, what is the probability a real word will be formed?"
