The Game (Posted on 2006-12-14) Difficulty: 2 of 5
There is a game which is played by those unlucky enough to be duped into it called "The Game". There are 3 simple rules to The Game:

1. Knowledge of The Game is the only thing required to play it (whoops, shouldn't have read this!!).
2. If you think about The Game, you lose.
3. If you lose The Game, you must announce it to anyone else who also plays.

Can you ever win The Game?

Let's assume that the only way to win is to have the other players all lose. Consider this.

I tell my friend Bill how to play the game, but I lie to him, and only tell him the last condition. Then, Bill knows the game. (Knowledge is not synonymous with truth). Bill will think about "his game" but will not think about "The Game" because, even though he knows what the game is, he is incorrect, and thus is not thinking about the correct game. Even when someone announces that they lost, Bill will not think about the correct game, and, thus, will win.

Now, for the question. The only way for ME (note the "Can YOU ever win the game?" is to get amnesia and for someone to tell me how to play the game incorrectly, as I did to Bill.
