How are the following letter groups connected?

ARIRY
BIIANT
BOOUTH
CHUATE
COIOOP
CRELL

According to many dictionaries, CRY (definition 1) is a synonym of YELL, while CRY (definition 2) is a synonym of WEEP.

The similar word to CRY, BOOHOO, would be hard to see, especially as it is more commonly "BOO HOO" and BOOHOO is the sailfish.  Perhaps SOAWL would be a better connection (SOBBAWL) as the two are synonyms and not just similar words.
